Virtual Challenge Events and why you need them

Virtual challenge events include activities such as walking, running, cycling, stair climbs, and various other types of exercise such as burpees and squats!

Unlike ‘in-person’ challenge events, they don’t rely on everyone being in the same place at the same time to take part in the challenge.

So whatever the next fundraising challenge event you’re creating, you should consider offering a virtual option alongside it.

Here’s a few reasons why.

Creating virtual challenges to run alongside your challenge events will:

Increase Fundraising:

Offering a virtual challenge alongside your in person challenge opens up the event to participants  that aren’t able to get there in person. Maybe they live too far away, have other commitments, or are (selfishly!;)) on holiday that day. A virtual event means that they can still take part in the challenge, but in their own time. Increasing the number of supporters that can take part in your event and increasing the fundraising potential!

Improve Accessibility:

Virtual challenges provide an opportunity for people with disabilities, busy schedules, or travel limitations to participate at their own pace and in their own way. It’s easier to adapt a virtual event to accommodate different fitness levels, offering accessible options like shorter distances or the opportunity to make adaptations to suit them. They might choose to do a marathon over a month for example, rather than in a day.

Raise ROI (Return on Investment):

You don’t need physical venues, staff, and logistics for virtual events, therefore, costs are significantly reduced. There are (relatively) no limitations on numbers taking part so they are easier to scale with minimal additional expenses. Meaning your charity gets a better return on its investment of resources, promotion etc.

Increase Reach & Awareness:

Virtual challenges don’t restrict your reach. Anyone, in any part of the world can take part and support your charity. Sharing their journey and progress on social media and spreading the word of your cause to a much wider audience, all year round.

When you don’t have in person events taking place, virtual events allow you to stay engaged with participants year-round, providing an opportunity for your supporters to fundraise, and for you to be able to continue your relationship with them.
